Studies on the Agents of an Avian Influenza Virus Isolated in Bird

Abstract

|
Fifty cases of materials swabbed the cloaca in various birds (Eastern spot billed-Duck, Mallard, Woodcock, Mandarin-Duck, Black swan, Penguin, Goose, Philean flamingo, Golden pheasnt, Cuc koo), were attempted to isolationof an avian influenza virus by the amnionic method in 10 day-old chicken embryos and the results obtained were as follows.
1. Authours had successfully isolated the four cases of an influenza virus like agents cultured with the materials washed the cloaca of " the mallard-Duck" belonging to the waterfowl.
2. Hemagglutination titers of the four isolated agents were shown as 1 : 32 in the sample No. 13, 1 : 512 in No. 21, 1 : 128 in No. 22, and 1 : 8 in No. 23, which was reacted as in 64 when tested with the antigen of amnionic fluid virus passed secondly by the blind passage.
